NEET MDS 2020: Application, Admit Card, Result and Counselling Details

NEET MDS 2020 is a single, eligibility cum entrance exam that all the candidates who have done their BDS and want to pursue master’s degree in their respective specializations need to take. National Eligibility cum Entrance Exam – Post Graduation, NEET MDS is held every year for admission to post graduation degree in the dental sciences. All the dental colleges throughout India accept the score obtained in NEET MDS to allot seats to the candidates in Master of Dental Surgery specializations.

NEET PG exam came into force last year after Supreme Court (SC) of India asked the India government to make it as a single entrance exam for admission to all the medical and dental colleges throughout India. After SC guidelines, NEET PG replaced AIPGMEE exam and MDS the All India Post Graduate Dental Entrance Exam (AIPGDEE) last year. The application forms for NEET MDS 2020 and NEET PG are expected to be announced by the end of September and in the first week of October. National Board of Examinations (NBE), the exam conducting body, will announce the dates for the same.

The scores obtained in NEET PG and NEET MDS will be accepted at all the top ranking medical colleges and top ranking dental colleges - government and private - at all India level. To know about NEET MDS 2020, candidates can hit past the jump.

NEET MDS 2020 Important Dates

NBE hasn’t announced the dates for NEET PG for MS, MD and Post Graduation diploma courses as of now. So NEET MDS 2020 and PG exam dates, based on the last year announcement, are expected to be announced anytime between the last week of September or first week of October 2020. Here is when we can expect these dates to fall in (tentative). All the Important dates for NEET PG 2020 and NEET MDS  2020 are tentative as of now and will only be finalized once the official notification comes.

NEET MDS 2020 Eligibility Criteria

In order to apply for NEET MDS 2020, candidates need to meet the following NEET MDS eligibility criteria.

  • Registration with the State Dental Council is necessary and the candidates have to furnish the certificate of the same during counselling.
  • Only the candidates who are Indian National/Person of India Origin/Overseas citizen of India cardholder possessing the BDS degree from the dental college that government of India recognizes are eligible to apply.
  • The condition of compulsory rotational internship won’t be applicable for candidates who have done their BDS on or before 1988. However, the candidates should hold a BDS degree from the reputed India University or dental college.
  • Candidates who are to pass the final qualifying examination BDS or even a foreign dental degree that GOI/DCI recognizes and is currently undergoing 12 months rotational internship/practical training and is expected to complete the same by March 2020 are eligible to apply for NEET MDS 2020.
  • The submit and the ending date of the 12 months compulsory rotational resident internship as is filled by the students will be deemed final and candidates need to produce the certificate with the dates stated at the time of counselling.
  • Candidates who have passed BDS from Telangana, Jammu & Kashmir and Andhra Pradesh are not eligible for 50 percent All India quota seats. However, candidates who the government of India nominated to do BDS from these states will be eligible to apply for all counselling in NEET MDS 2020.
  • In some universities/colleges, there are regulations about candidates who are pursuing any PG course in their University or in any other university are not eligible for admission until they complete the course. Also, those who are already pursuing a degree either through All India Quota or state quota and are applying for a seat under the All India Quota seats should confirm the eligibility conditions to the concerned university/colleges.

Also, the point worth noticing here is NEET PG 2020 eligibility criteria is different to that of NEED MDS. 

NEET MDS 2020 Application Form

Application forms for NEET MDS 2020 exam will be available by September 2020 end and those who are interested to apply for the same can do so through the NBE’s official website i.e. http://nbe.edu.in/neetmds/. Interested candidates need to fill in all the details for NEET MDS exam 2020 accurately failing which their application may get cancelled.

On the other hand, candidates producing false of fabricated documents will be barred from taking part in the NEET MDS exam or any further proceedings for that matter. Also, incomplete application forms and not filled according to the instructions are liable to be rejected. Candidates have to upload a scanned copy of the recent photograph with 80 percent coverage given to the face together with signature in the application form. Also, application forms for NEET PG 2020 and NEET MDS will be available at the same time.

NEET MDS 2020 application fee varies from category to category. Therefore, candidates need to keep the following in mind before they pay the application fee online. Candidates can pay the fee using their Credit/Debit card and/or internet banking.

NEET MDS 2020 Admit Card

NEET PG 2020 admit card is a ticket to the exam hall. Once the candidates complete their registration and scheduling process, they will get a computer-generated acknowledgement at their registered email IDs. Admit card will be issued only to the candidates who successfully complete the registration and scheduling process. Once candidates receive NEET MDS admit card in the mail, they need to read the information carefully and verify the information. To take part in NEED MDS 2020 exam, candidates are advised to take the print out of a copy of the admit card and affix a passport size photocopy at the space provided for the same. Passport size photograph that candidates need to affix on the admit card should be a minimum of 35x45 mm with at least 75% coverage of face & head. NEET MDS Admit Card will include the following information and candidates need to ensure they check all so that there are no hassles on the exam day. NEED MDS 2020 Exam Pattern

  • NEED MDS this year, like last year, will contain objective questions with multiple-choice answers.
  • Each question in the NEET MDS exam will carry equal marks.
  • There will be 180 questions in all and candidates will get 3 hours to solve them.
  • The questions will be asked from Chemistry, Physics, Zoology and Botany.
  • There will be no negative marking in the exam.

NEET MDS Pass Percentile

Candidates who are taking NEED MDS 2020 exam, there is a minimum pass percentile that they need to pass to qualify the exam. However, qualifying the exam surely doesn’t mean the candidate has secured the sea. For this purpose, it is mandatory that a candidate to secure a place in NEET MDS cut off.

NEET MDS 2020 Result

To qualify NEED MDS 2020 exam, as stated above, a candidate has to score a minimum pass percentile, which is 50 for general category, 40 for SC/ST/OBC and 45 for PWD. NEED MDS result will be declared in January 2020 and will be valid for the current session only. Also, in case two or more candidates obtain equal marks, their inter se merit will be determined according to age, meaning the older one will get preference over younger one. Further NBE will announce NEED MDS 2020 result for the following:

  1. All India 50% quota seats for MDS courses (all states other than Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana).
  2. State quota seats for MDS courses of all states as well Union Territories of India (including Andhra Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir and Telangana).
  3. Admission to MDS Courses in the private colleges, universities, deemed universities and institutions.
  4. Admission to MDS courses in AFMS institutions.

NEET MDS 2020 Merit List

Once the result for NEET MDS 2020 is out, NBE will release the merit list. There will be different merit lists for different categories. Check the types of NEET MDS exam merit lists that NBE will release. Similarly, NEED PG 2020 merit list will be released for the same categories. 

  • All India NEET MDS 2020 Rank: This will be an overall merit position of the candidate among all those who took the exam in 2020.
  • All India 50% Quota Rank: This merit list will consist of the overall position of the candidate among all the candidates who have appeared for NEET MDS 2020 for all India 50% quota and is valid only for All India 50% quota for post graduate MDS courses for admission to 2020-19 admission.  
  • All India 50% Quota Category Rank: This merit list will consist of overall merit position of the candidate in the category (OBC/SC/ST) as candidates have opted during the NEET MDS 2020 for all India 50% quotas and will be valid only for admission to All India 50% quota Postgraduate MDS courses.
  • State quota/ Private Dental colleges/Deemed University/AFMS rank: State category rank, state quota rank, benefit for in-service candidates, rural postings etc will be determined by the designated authority of the concerned state/university/ concerned authority as per the application regulation and of their eligibility criteria, guidelines and applicable reservation policies.

NEET MDS 2020 Cut Off

For the candidates who make it to NEED MDS 2020 cut off list, it is mandatory to bring the following documents along failing which they won’t be allowed to be the part of the counselling process. Therefore, candidates are advised to ensure they bring the following documents along:
