So, here are some tips and tricks on How to Prepare for JEE Main Without Coaching:

JEE Main Preparation Tip 1: Be Focused

First of all, you should be mentally prepared and keep a positive approach towards your goal. With the really high levels of competition and peer pressures, it is very easy to get distracted and doubt your methods of preparation. It is important to just focus on your preparation and believe in yourself and your methods. Since JEE Main preparations can be very intense, it is very important to be ready to put in all the mental and physical effort required to clear the exam.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 2: Have a Preparation Strategy

Being organized is one of the cardinal factors that make a difference when the result comes. For a highly competitive exam like JEE Main, without a proper preparation strategy in place, winning will be little difficult if not all that impossible. Also, pay attention while making the exam preparation strategy. Prefer allocating more time to subjects and topics you are weak in. Following the preparation strategy to the core is also essential to score higher in the exam.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 3: Use Relevant Study Material

You should know the entire syllabus that will be covered in the exam; so that you can collect study material for preparation. Reference to best JEE Main preparation books and previous years question papers for JEE Main will go a long way into your preparations. Although it is said that NCERT syllabus is sufficient to clear the JEE Main exams, students who appeared for the JEE Main 2020 exams felt that reference to other JEE preparation was a must to clear the exam and only NCERT was not enough.

JEE Main preparation must also include solving sample papers, previous year's JEE Main papers. To save time during revision, you should make notes of topics while preparing them, so that during revision you don't waste too much time revisiting each chapter and instead you can refer to the notes. Solve more and more problems, discover more and more new tricks. Try to give more time to chapters and topics that you feel are your weak pointsThis will help you to perform well in the exam.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 5: Interact with JEE Experts, Students

It is always a great idea to know tips and tricks from those who have 'been there, done that'. Speak to students who have cleared the JEE Main exams, experts, teachers, professors etc. and try to gain as much insight into the JEE Main exam and preparation, as you can. They will let you know about Do’s and Don’ts for JEE Main test.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 6: Prefer Group Study

Working with a competitive study group goes a very long way in the successful preparation of JEE Main. Group discussion with teachers and fellow students will recreate a cooperative environment to multiply your knowledge exponentially. Students can Quiz and challenge each other with questions from the JEE Main syllabus.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 7: Revision is Must

While preparing for any exam, revision is of utmost importance and JEE Main is no exception either. Covering new topics without revising the already covered ones will be a wastage of time. Without revision, it is highly likely that students forget the concepts they covered in the past. However, devoting time and revising them in a systematic way will students time that they need to invest on learning them yet again. Therefore, candidates should revise the syllabus as many times as you can. It will help you in:

  • It will increase your test-taking speed.
  • It will help you overcome panic.
  • It will give you a clear picture about the topics you’re weak in.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 8: Take Mock Tests

For obtaining a high rank in the JEE Main exam, it is recommended that candidates take mock tests. However, it’s not that candidates should start taking mock tests too early during their preparation. Candidates should start taking the mock tests only when they have completed all the topics and subjects. Ideally, taking mock tests a month before the exam makes more sense. The reason being, taking mock tests without completing the syllabus won’t help at first. Secondly, candidates can start taking mock tests before one moth of the exam and two in a week will be a good number.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 9: Solve Question Papers

One of the most important tips and things to do when preparing for JEE Main 2020 exam is to solve JEE Main previous year question papers. Doing so is of great value as solving previous year question papers have many benefits. It helps students to understand the exam pattern, the type of questions asked, syllabus and of course the complexity level of the questions being asked in JEE Main exam. One of the most beneficial things about solving the previous year question papers is it enables aspirants to enhance speed, accuracy and have a strategy to attempt the question paper. This can help them attempt a full question paper when taking the actual exam.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 10: Don’t Start New Topics Near Exam

Students should make a proper JEE Main preparation strategy and ensure that they complete all the topics and subjects well before the exam, preferably two weeks before. However, it is advised that students should keep the last two weeks only for the revision and taking mock tests. Starting new topics before some days and even a week won’t help and can possibly do more harm than good.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 11: Keep Distractions Away!

Distractions can really make the difference during the JEE Main preparation days. Therefore, keep social media distractions like Facebook, Whatsapp etc just to chat with your friends or check their updates. However, you can surely join FB and G+ groups to find some important exam tips and know how they are preparing for the exam.

JEE Main Preparation Tip 12: Eat & Sleep Well

Don't over push for studies, ensure you take rest and exercise regularly. Always remember all works and no play make Jack a dull boy. Too many sleepless nights and improper food. Having a good diet is as much essential as studying. Your brain needs regular energy and rest to work and function efficiently. You must have at least 8 hours of proper sleep to relax your brain. A regular hobby like running, singing etc. anything that you like, will help your brain refresh and get ready to absorb another few hours of studying. Monotony gets in the way of the brain absorbing new concepts and lessons, so it's necessary to keep giving it breaks at regular intervals. It is always better to start early and revise towards the end to come through with flying colours!!
