JEE Main is the biggest Engineering exam in India and is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Aspirants appearing for JEE Main 2020 can seek admission in B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning courses offered by the prestigious IITs, NITs, CFTIs and various other engineering colleges.

Paper I difficulty level turned out to be ‘Easy to Moderate’. The exam pattern was stable and pretty similar to last year's paper. All the questions carried 4 marks each while 1 mark was deducted for incorrect responses. All the questions were framed from the JEE Main 2020 Syllabus prescribed by CBSE. However, students said that NCERT books were not enough for JEE preparation and they had to refer to other preparation books.

When asked why students opted for offline paper over the online paper scheduled to be held on April 8-9, 2020, these are some of the highlights and insights students gave:

  • The JEE Main online paper was conducted before the offline paper and they wanted to get done with it early.
  • Some said they did not want to take a chance online because online papers sometimes involve a lot of network and server related issues.
  • Few students said that they were more comfortable appearing for the offline paper.
  • The nature of the offline paper was very similar to how they actually prepared for JEE Main 2020.

JEE Main 2020 Paper I Exam Analysis:

Physics:

Most of the students coming out of the JEE Main 2020 exam centre said that the Physics section was 'Easy' with pretty straight forward questions. Some students said that the questions in the Physics paper were similar to the mock tests.

Chemistry:

Like the Physics section, the difficulty level of the Chemistry section also turned out to be 'Easy to 'Moderate'. The paper was similar to last year and there were no major changes. Some of the students found questions from Organic Chemistry difficult.

Mathematics:

The Mathematics paper was lengthy, said most students. The difficulty level was 'Moderate' but students said the calculations took a lot of time. The questions were straightforward but required time.

JEE Main 2020 Exam Pattern:

JEE Main 2020 is an objective-type test. The total duration of the test is 3 hours (1 hour extra will be given to physically disabled applicants).

JEE Main 2020 consists of multiple-choice questions and each question has 4 responses. The candidates have to choose one appropriate response. Each correct answer is awarded 4 marks and every incorrect response is penalised with -1 mark. The candidate is required to use Blue or Black ballpoint pen for offline mode.
