NEET 2020 Important Dates – The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET is the only national level examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) for aspirants who wish to seek a career in medicine. They can apply for MBBS and BDS courses offered by various medical and dental colleges across the country. The official notification for the NEET exam is expected to be released in January 2020. Before starting the NEET registration process, it is imperative to know the NEET 2020 Important Dates. Knowing the dates will help students plan their preparation and study accordingly. The official notification is yet to be released but similar to last year, the registrations are expected to start from January 2020 and the NEET exam is expected to be held in the month of May 2020.

NEET 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The second most important information after NEET 2020 Important Dates is to know the NEET Eligibility Criteria set by CBSE. Candidates wishing to seek admission in MBBS and BDS courses at any of the top medical and dental colleges in India must fulfil the NEET Eligibility Criteria, which involves three main parameters:

Eligibility criteria for 15% All India Quota Seats

  • The candidate should have attained the age of 17 years at the time of admission or should complete the age on or before December 31, 2020.
  • The upper age limit for candidates seeking admission under 15% All India Quota Seats is 25 years as on December 31, 2020.
  • Further, this upper age limit shall be relaxed by a period of 5 years for the candidates of Scheduled Castes/ Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward-Classes.

Eligibility Criteria for candidates from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and J&K

  • Students from the States of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and J&K are not eligible for the 15% All India quota seats since these States had opted out of the All India Scheme since its inception. As per the NEET 2020 Important Dates, the online registration for NEET will begin in January 2020 and if the candidates from these state wish to claim eligibility, they must submit a Self Declaration online, which will be generated and printed automatically along with the confirmation page for the record and must be presented during counselling.
  • The online Self Declaration of the candidates will be verified at the time of counselling and if found to be false at any time, the admission of such candidates shall be cancelled.
  • Candidates from the States of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and J&K can appear in the NEET exam for admission to private medical and dental colleges or any Private/Deemed University and Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, subject to the fulfilment of the NEET Eligibility Criteria.

NEET 2020 Important Dates: Details of Application Process

As per the NEET 2020 Important Dates, the application process for NEET will begin in January 2020. The NEET application form can be filled online only, on the official website of CBSE NEET. Under no circumstances will the application be accepted offline.

Steps to fill NEET Application Form

  • Log on to the official website of CBSE NEET (http://cbseneet.nic.in/)
  • Select 'Apply Online' under the Online Services tab
  • Read all the important information carefully and complete the registration
  • Fill all the relevant details in the NEET application form and click on submit
  • After the completion, you will be redirected to the fee payment page
  • Choose the mode of payment and make the necessary payment

The NEET application fee varies as per the category of the candidate. While the General category and OBC category students have to pay INR 1400/-, those belonging to SC, ST and PWD categories have to pay INR 750/-.
