NEET 2020 Counselling

NEET 2020 Counselling - NEET or the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test is a national level medical examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) every year. NEET 2020 Counselling will be conducted via online mode. Those who wish to seek admission in MBBS and BDS courses offered by various medical and dental colleges in India can apply for the NEET 2020 exam from December 2020/January 2020. Candidates who qualify the exam will be called for the NEET counselling process.

NEET 2020 Counselling will begin in the month of June 2020. Once the NEET result is declared, the merit list will be prepared and the candidates who fall in the NEET merit list 2020 will be called for the NEET counselling. Only those candidates who qualified the NEET 2020 exam and fulfil the eligibility criteria of NEET for 15% All India Quota seats will be eligible to participate in the NEET counselling procedure.

NEET 2020 counselling for 15% All India Quota seats will be conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) in an online mode. The NEET counselling for candidates other than the 15% All India Quota seats will be organised by the respective state government authorities and the respective medical and dental colleges. The seats will be allotted based on the All India Rank secured by the candidate in the NEET exam.

NEET 2020 Counselling – Important Dates

The official notification for NEET is yet to be announced. The following table shows the tentative important dates for NEET 2020 Counselling. The counselling process will be conducted soon after the NEET result is declared in June 2020.

NEET 2020 Counselling Process

The NEET 2020 Counselling will be held in an online mode. MCC will conduct the online counselling for the 15% All India Quota seats whereas the counselling for the rest of the 85% seats will be conducted by the respective state government and university/institute authorities. The NEET counselling is split into the following rounds:

Online Registration:

The qualified candidates will first have to register themselves for NEET 2020 Counselling. Without registration, the candidates will not be able to participate in the counselling procedure. Once a candidate has registered on the official website, they will receive a unique User ID and Password on their registered mobile number and email ID. Once they receive the user ID and password, they must log in for further procedure.

Filling Choice of College and Locking:

The second step is the selection of the medical or dental college as per the candidate's preference. Once the final selection is done, the candidate must click on the 'Save' button to lock their choices. It is compulsory to lock the choices.

Declaration of Result:

Soon after the NEET 2020 counselling process is concluded, candidates will receive an SMS and an e-mail related to the allotted course and college. The seat allotment will be based on the candidate's rank and the opted choice of colleges.

Report at the College:

Once the NEET result is announced, the candidate will have to report to the allotted college and pay the course fee. If the candidate doesn't report at the allotted college in time, the seat will be given to the next candidate.

NEET 2020 Counselling – Important Documents Required

The candidate has to bring the following documents at the time of admission at the college:

  • Birth Certificate
  • Category Certificate (If Applicable)
  • High School & Intermediate Mark Sheets
  • High School & Intermediate Passing Certificate
  • Identity Proof
  • NEET 2020 Admit Card
  • NEET 2020 Rank Card
  • Passport size photograph (Six)
  • Provisional Allotment Letter

NEET 2020 Counselling – Qualifying Percentile

In order to qualify the NEET exam and sit for NEET 2020 Counselling, the candidates will have to secure the minimum qualifying percentile. The following table shows the qualifying percentile required by the candidates as per their category.
