Before deciding whether you would want to make a career as a freelance writer, please consider following qualities which are essential to excel in this field: A freelance writer should have mastered the language they are writing in, be able to clearly and logically communicate ideas with the end user in mind, know how to research, be able to work independently for long periods of time, be able to work with other professionals, such as clients, editors and agents, in a mature and efficient manner. You also need to be good at marketing yourself, disciplined in keeping to deadlines and being able to pursue payments due to you.
