Department of Studies in Anthropology, Karnatak University Dharwad is approved by NAAC. This is one of the oldest Departments of Anthropology in South India, and the first in the Karnataka State to offers post-graduate education leading to Master’s and Doctoral degrees in Anthropology. The mission is to prepare young anthropologists capable of bringing awareness to the society at large on Biological/Cultural variations in human beings in order to develop mutual tolerance and peaceful coexistence and also to build capacities to conduct research in this direction at micro- and macro- levels in order to use these insights for developmental programmes.
