The Department of PG Studies and Research in Applied Geology is the part of School of Earth Sciences, was established to offer PG courses and to undertake research in the field of Earth Sciences. The Department has grown over the years with the financial aid and administrative support from the university and other funding agencies.

College Facility

Laboratory

  • The laboratories are equipped with sophisticated instruments (viz., Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer and Reflected/transmitted light microscopes) and state of art Soft wares for Geo-spatial data analysis (ArcGIS, MapInfo, Geomatica and multiple licenses of ERDAS Imagine with Photogrammetry suite) with high-end servers and PCs, and the most modern field equipments (viz., Total station, GPS and Aqua meter)

Library

  • The modern and well equipped building of Library in Kuvempu University offers excellent infrastructure facilities in reading, borrowing and reference to the students, teachers and research scholars of all the departments. Over 69,011 volumes and 251 current periodicals are available. The library has kept pace with modernisation by introducing CD ROM data base, internet and e-mail facilities. Hostel

  • There are two Post-Graduate men's hostels and two women's hostel on the main campus. The working omen hostel on the campus also provides accommodation to students and research scholars. The hostel for students belonging to backward Classes and Minorities established near the main campus by the State Government provides hostel facility exclusively for the Post-Graduate students of the University. Plans are underway to construct international hostels.

ExtraCurricular

  • The University assigns high priority to extra curricular activities on the campus. These activities are organised by the Extra-Curricular Activities Association which consists of a coordinator from the faculty and student representatives from all the Post-Graduate departments. A highlight of the activitiesis the annual youth festival (Sahyadri Festival) meant for students of the affiliated colleges and the P.G. Departments.
