Department of Neurovirology is established under National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences. Departments objective is to provide routine diagnostic services such as virus isolation and antibody detection and conduct basic and applied research in the field with particular reference to Neuro-psychiatric disorders. Departments future plan is to establish national registry for viral infections of nervous system, conduct research on immunology of Japanese encephalitis etc.
