Department of English is a part of Berhampur University. This is one of the few Departments in India offering Master’s level courses in Creative Writing and Film Studies. The M. Phil programme is a research level course comprising literary theory, research methodology and theories of drama, poetry  and fiction. The Department has organised a number of state level, national and international seminars, conferences, work shops and Refresher Courses.
