JOB PRESSURE

High

With a great company, comes a great amount of data. This data is often precious, and access to it restricted. However, people can still attempt to steal it, or the databases may get damaged and become unusable.

That is where a database administrator steps in. Their job, in short, is to set up, configure, maintain and secure the databases of a company.

What do they do?

As a database administrator, you would install, configure and secure a company’s database.

You would be responsible for upgrading it as needed, monitoring it and maintaining it.

You would first design the database, then install and set it to match your company’s needs. If needed, you would have to upgrade or modify its structure, as well as planning for future updates.

You would also be responsible for providing and monitoring access to it, as well as backing it up, and restoring it in case of an issue.

You would need to ensure it operates at optimal performance, and that it is secure from possible hackers.
