With the birth of the digital age, more and more companies are setting up their own websites, and most now use a network of computers for work. However, maintaining such a set up can be difficult, and not too many people know how to do it.

That’s where a Computer Systems Analyst steps in. Their job, in short, is to help set up and maintain these information systems for the company. Thanks to them, everybody’s work becomes easier, and the system runs smoothly.

What do they do?

A Computer Systems Analyst identifies the IT needs of a company, and design computer systems to meet those needs. You may have to develop a new system, or configure an existing system to improve productivity.

After determining a system design strategy, you will implement the needed hardware and software, after which you will perform quality assurance tests to resolve any design flaws, and make sure everything is working as needed.

Other responsibilities includes creating computer networks to maximise information sharing, recommending improvements for systems and training the people on how to use it all.

Computer Systems Analysts often work for computer design firms, but many also work directly for companies, or are self employed consultants.

Some examples of computer design firms are Andor Co Ltd, ROLTA India Ltd, KGL Systel Ltd and Zigma Software Ltd.
