National Conference on Management Education Dr VN BRIMS

A national conference was organised at Dr. VN Bedekar Institute of Management (Dr VN BRIMS) Thane on February 6, 2020.

There has been a paradigm shift in management education during last few decades due to Privatization of Universities, Globalization, Influx of Technology, change in demand etc. Proliferation of numerous B-Schools has changed the landscape and demand-supply dynamics of management education. Certification in Management, once considered a prized possession, is no longer a ticket to job in corporate sphere. Even the business models have changed a lot and they are continuously evolving. In the light of the above and on completion of a decade in management education, DR. VN BRIMS selected the theme 'Management Education – Past, Present and Future' for the academic year 2015-16.

Dr. Nitin Joshi, Director Brims welcomed the guest and also emphasized on how reinventing and rebooting will help the faculty members to build connect with the students better. He also shared the need of high quality research in management education. Team teaching and interdisciplinary approach to management education can give new life to the system.

The conference was inaugurated by Dr. Chandrahauns Chavan, Director JBIMS, Mumbai, who shared how technology can be used to help the student learn better. He also emphasized that managers of today cannot move away from technology. He said that tools of IT should be a part of teaching and learning system.

Dr. P S Rao, Dean Quality management systems at L N Welingkar Institute of Management, Matunga who was the key note speaker shared the past, the present of management education and also his vision of 2020 and 2025.

Dr. Guruprasad Murthy, Director General at BRIMS shared his views on the changes which he has seen as a management professional and also brought the attention towards usage of Dictionary and how its use has benefited him in person. He said quality in management education is a matter of concern and all the faculty members should work hard to ensure that they deliver quality.
