MAAC Hosts 13th Edition of 24 FPS Awards 2020

Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics (MAAC), leader in 3D Animation and VFX training, hosted the 13thth edition of the 24 FPS Awards 2020 on December 15th, 2020, at Sahar Hotel in Mumbai.

Through a journey of 13 years, this event has gradually grown in popularity and gained significant support from the global animation fraternity and has provided a robust platform for animation talent in the country.

The occasion was graced by a number of special guests from the media and entertainment industry which included former Miss India Pooja Chopra and successful short film director Jyothi Kapur Das.

Some notable performers were lauded for their exemplary contribution to contemporary cinema under the ‘Movers and Shakers’ category. Nagraj Manjule, Indian filmmaker and screenwriter of Sairat fame along with Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub of Tanu Weds Manu-2 and Raees fame, and Tannishtha Chatterjee of Angry Indian Goddesses and Parched fame won the accolades this year. The 13th edition of 24FPS also witnessed one of the highest participation with 57 films in the mainstream category - 15 member each, DFM -100 -10 member each and skill category -1500.

Mr. Ram Warrier Business Head MAAC, “2015 turned out to be the cusp year for the Indian animation and VFX industry with the release of ‘Baahubali’ which spent INR 850 million on VFX alone. Such a development spells hope for those aspiring to enter the animation industry and it is gradually becoming a preferred choice among youngsters today. Awards like 24 FPS bring the best talent to the fore and encourage them to do better.”

Nagraj Manjule who’s film Sairat became the first Marathi Cinema to cross Rs. 100 crore business was honoured for his indelible contribution to Indian cinema. With critical acclaim being one of the parameters in adjudging performances, the award for consistent performance was clinched by Tannishtha Chatterrjee (for her performance in Angry Indian Goddesses and Parched) and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub for his performance in Tanu Weds Manu-2. Ayyub is currently working in a character role with Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming mega-release Raees.
24FPS, which is one of the biggest international award for Animation and VFX industry also saw several key films (motion picture and animation) winning the golden trophies.

In individual categories, the award for Outstanding Contribution to VFX was conferred to Prime Focus World . Merzin Tavaria, Co-founder & Creative Director of Prime Focus received the award ; the Award Outstanding Contribution to Animation was conferred to  Toonz Media Group; and the Award for Excellence was conferred on Shilpa Ranade for her stellar work - Gopi Gawaiya Bagha Bajaiya.
