Kurukshetra Institute of Technology and Management (KITM) organized a Science Fiesta-2014 for the students of science and commerce.

Nearly 1500 Plus-1 and Plus-2 students from eighty five schools from different parts of Haryana participated in this unique science fair, informed Prof (Dr) P.J. George, Director Principal, KITM.

This is the first of its kind initiative KITM has taken in Haryana to promote interest in science and how it can be used to solve human issues, he informed.

To be made into an annual feature, the students at the Science Fiesta participatied in variety of competitions including slogan writing, poster-making, public speaking, and quiz contests, besides presenting a cultural programme. Students displayed various science models and ‘Best Out of Waste’ ideas for effective utilization of the domestic waste material.

The best part was that many of the students used their knowledge of science to create models that could be effectively used by the people for their day to day need, which included Sant Ishar Singh public School Ladwa's Manpreet, Tanveer and Parminder's mobile charger through bicycle. You drive one kilometer on the cycle and the mobile gets full charge, Manpreet informed.  Hitesh and Rajat, Plus-1 students of Sanjay Gandhi School, Ladwa, devised an air-conditioner in a bucket which costed them around Rs.300 and they intend to sell it to the people in villages.  And so was a cooler in a tin that Abhishek and Adeesh of DAV School Cheeka had created for less than Rs.300, while Nishika and Neelima of KDLP Public School of Lohar Majra who used kitchen waste and cow dung sealed in a bucket to produce biogas.

The innovation by young minds was deeply appreciated by the students as they also interacted with the students of KITM to see engineering products and robots.
