Jamia Millia Islamia University is all set to conduct its International Summer School (ISS) in the national capital, New Delhi. The programme was inaugurated in 2013 by the Vice Chancellor Najeeb Jung under the banner of the Ministry of Tourism's acclaimed Incredible India campaign.

The six week long programme will be at par with undergraduate level courses. For the first four weeks, students will study Indian political science, Indian history, Indian sociology and Indian economics. It will be further supplemented by seminars where students will be allowed to watch documentaries, films and interact with experts on socio-economic issues. A two-week fieldwork experience will also be held after the academic session. This would include excursions to Agra, Jaipur and other locations as well as the opportunity to volunteer for social causes.

Moreover, students will get to learn beginners level Hindi, and volunteer with Ritinjali, a non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been running intensive programmes for community development across the country. An Indian –centric syllabus has been designed carefully so as to showcase India’s rich culture and heritage. The faculty will motivate students to take up initiatives and immerse themselves in certain topics through higher level research.
