The most awaited part of the two-year study program for MBA students is the summer internship project where they get practical exposure of the challenges of the corporate world. The first year Dr. V N Bedekar Institute of Management Studies (DR VN BRIMS), Thane have been quite lucky and happy with almost 15 big names in the Indian corporate sector offering them summer projects for May and June with stipend as high as Rs.10,000 per month.

Companies like Force Motors is top on the list this year, with the highest stipend offered at Rs.10, 000. Other corporates to join this league are Nielsen India, world`s most reputed and trusted market research company picking up almost 25 students each at a stipend of Rs.5,000 per month for two months. Financial biggies like Birla SunLife, ICICI Securities, Kotak Life Insurance, ShareKhan, Angel Broking and India Infoline each have picked up almost 5 to 10 summer interns across Finance, Marketing and HR specialisations. Projects ranging from derivatives, mutual funds, capital market operations, corporate finance, fundamental and technical analysis have been the flavour of this summer season. Students from marketing have got with really good projects in market research and digital marketing.

HR students have got their projects in areas like recruitment and hiring and performance management systems. RK Foodland, a niche player in the facilities management services has picked up two students from Operations specialisation for enhancing their transportation services effectiveness and improving warehousing efficiency and reducing supply chain costs.

And the most interesting internship was awarded to one of the marketing student, who will be working for the institute (Dr VN Bedekar) only as a marketing intern, where she will predominantly do things to improve the college visibility and help the institute become a bigger brand.

Both, the students and the placement head, are hopeful that the batch will have still better brands and opportunities for the final placements as well.
