IIT JAM 2020 Exam Pattern

JAM Exam Pattern 2020 - Candidates who aspire to appear for Joint Admission Test for M.Sc. programme should check the exam pattern of JAM 2020 which will help them in preparing for the postgraduate science exam. JAM Exam Pattern 2020 defines the pattern of the question paper including total marks, subjects, duration of the exam and marking scheme for the M.Sc Joint Admission Test. IIT Delhi has notified that the candidates are allowed to appear for maximum of two papers.

The candidates can appear for two exams conducted by IIT Delhi but they should ensure that the exams are scheduled in the same slot. Those candidates appearing for the second paper have to pay the additional application fee in order to give the test. All the seven subjects will be objective type, with three different patterns.

Exam Mode: IIT JAM 2020 is a computer based test (online mode)

Exam duration: 2.30 hours (180 Minutes)

No. of Questions: 60 Questions

Total score: 100 Marks

Type of Questions: Multiple choice questions/objective type, short answers, and multiple selective type questions.

Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ): Each MCQ will have four options, out of which only one answer will be correct.

Multiple Select Questions (MSQ): Each MSQ has four options. MSQ will have more than one option as its correct answer is the major difference.

Numeric Answer Type (NAT): There will not be any choices in these questions. These questions will just have one real number as their answer. The candidate will have to enter the correct number using the virtual keyboard provided on the screen during the exam.

More about IIT JAM 2020 Exam

JAM 2020 is a computer based test conducted in online mode only.
The duration of the exam will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
IIT JAM 2020 exam carries 100 marks
There will be 60 questions in total
The exam is divided into three sections: Section A, B, and C.
No marks will be deducted for short answer and multiple selective-type questions whereas there will be negative marking for the multiple choice questions.
JAM2020 will be conducted for a total of seven test papers which are divided into 2 sessions.
The first session will be held for the following subjects: Mathematics, Biological Science, and Physics
The second session will be held for the following subjects: Mathematical Statistics, Geology, Biotechnology and Chemistry

Negative Marking for Section A

For 1 mark questions: 1/3 (for each incorrect response)
For 2 mark questions: 2/3 (for each incorrect response)
There is no negative marking for Section B and Section C.
