CAT Notification 2020- IIM Lucknow has released the official notification of CAT 2020 on 29 July 2020. The online registration for the same will commence from 09 August 2020. Candidates who are willing to take the examination must check the CAT eligibility before applying online. The exam will be conducted in exam centres spread across around 140 test cities. This year, the CAT 2020 notification has not come as a surprise but there is just one thing which is disturbing for a thousand of students and this is the CAT 2020 exam date. 

IIM Lucknow will hold Common Admission Test 2020 on 26 November 2020 (Sunday) in two sessions, forenoon and afternoon. The CAT 2020 exam date is clashing with IIFT 2020 entrance exam date, which is also Novemer 26, 2020. The students willing to appear for the exams are now in dilemma which one to opt and which to skip. However, considering the importance of these both exams  for an MBA aspirant, it is expected that the respective exam conducting authorities will look into the clash issue and resolve the same soon.

Highlights of CAT Notification 2020

• The number of CAT exam centres have increased from 138 to 140 this year
• Application fee to apply for CAT 2020 has again increased this year for all category of candidates. It is INR 900 for reserved category candidates and INR 1800 for non reserved category candidates. 
• The CAT resgistration window will remain open for 43 days, starting from August 9 to September 20, till 05.00 pm.

CAT 2020 is a computer-based test. CAT Exam 2020 conducts to offer admission to various management programmes of IIMs. CAT scores will also be accepted by non-IIM member institutes.Click the below link to download the information brochure of CAT.

CAT 2020 Important Dates

• Registration Starts from- 09 August 2020
• Registration ends on- 20 September 2020 at 05:00 PM
• Admit Card to be release on- 18 October 2020 to 26 November 2020
• CAT 2020 Test Day- 26 November 2020
• Result declaration- January 2020

Eligibility- Aspirants must possess a Bachelor’s Degree with minimum 50% marks or equivalent CGPA from a recognised University/ Institute. A relaxation of 5% is available for candidates who belongs SC, ST and PWD categories i.e 45%.

CAT 2020 Application form will be issued online on 09 August 2020. To complete the online registration, candidates have to submit the pre-requisite application fee-

•  For SC, ST and PwD category- ₹900
•  For all other candidates- ₹1800

Further guidelines regarding the registration process will be issued along with the application form on the official website, iimcat.ac.in. Candidates are advised to keep a keen eye on the details as no changes will be accepted after final submission of online forms.

No change in the CAT 2020 exam pattern and duration

The duration of the test remains same, 180 minutes. There will be 3 sections like last year, namely, verbal ability and reading comprehension, data interpretation and logical reasoning and quantitative ability. The descriptive question will be there this year too, the students will be required to type their answers. Though, it won’t involve much of typing. For more clarity of the CAT 2020 exam pattern, a tutorial will be available on the CAT website from October 18, 2020.

Online calculator remains intact this year too

The aspirants will be allowed to use the online calculator for doing the calculations. This was allowed last year too. Although, many of the test takers were of the view that it didn’t helped much. As per the experts and CAT toppers, the students should develop the habit of doing the calculations manually and not depend much on the online calculator.

Sectional time limit of 60 minutes continues 

This year also, the candidates will have 60 minutes to attempt each section of the test. They cannot switch between the sections. 

Announcement of CAT 2020 Result

This year also, no particular date has been provided in the CAT schedule 2020 for the declaration of result. It will be announced in the second week of January 2020 tentatively. CAT 2020 score will be accepted by 20 IIMs and over 100+ B-Schools will grant admission to management courses on the basis of CAT percentile.

The list of CAT 2020 Participating Institutes is now available on the official CAT 2020 website. Some of the renowned non-IIMs that will accept the score of CAT are FMS Delhi, NITIE, IMT Ghaziabad, JBIMS Mumbai, IMI New Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR, TAPMI, XIMB.
