XAT 2020: Tips to Ace the Essay Writing Section

XAT 2020 is set to be conducted on January 8, 2020. Last few days are left before the big day and preparation pressure is beginning to set in. It is now time to revise and brush up basics to ensure your preparation is on track. However, unlike other MBA entrance exams, XAT 2020 has an essay writing section in part two of the paper to crack. Writing an essay might sound easy to many but cracking this section in XAT is not. The word limit of this section is around 200 and the duration is 20 minutes.

Given below are the parameters considered to crack the XAT 2020 essay writing section-

  1. Structure of the essay
  2. Factual information
  3. Correct usage of words and knowledge
  4. Clarity of thought
  5. Language (grammar and vocabulary)

Tips to Crack the XAT 2020 Essay Writing Section

Given below are a few tips that will help you ace the essay writing section-

  1. Divide your content into multiple paragraphs, so that it is easy for the reader to differentiate between the changes in the contexts.
  2. The paragraphs must be coherent and cohesive.
  3. For more clarity in thought, the essay must contain an introduction followed by the body including information and finally the conclusion part. This will help you restrict the number of words.
  4. Ensure that you do not lose the focus on the topic. There are chances you might want to keep writing with the flow. Try maintaining the flow and remain to the point.
  5. Keep your handwriting neat and try not to cancel, cut, scribble or over-write on the words.
  6. Be clear in your thoughts. Be crisp, clear and precise.
  7. Do not use slangs and jargons in the essay. Try using relevant vocabulary.

How to Prepare for the XAT 2020 Essay Writing Section?

Given below is a step-by-step guide to preparing for the XAT 2020 essay writing section-

  1. The utmost important aspect of writing is good knowledge. Read newspapers and magazines to expand your knowledge. Diversified and quality reading is the best way to gain more knowledge and apply elsewhere.
  2. Preparation for such a section is not exhaustive. Hence, it is best to inculcate reading habit in your daily routine. Discussions with your family, friends, seniors and peers will help you gain more knowledge every single day.
  3. To improve your grammar skills, indulge in various book exercises to improve your grammar.
  4. Learn new words every day and increase your vocabulary.
  5. Read informative articles on the internet.
