JEE Main 2020: All You Need to Know

JEE Main 2020 is the first stage test conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to grant admission to undergraduate engineering programmes offered at Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), National Institutes of Technology (NITs), Indian School of Mines (ISM)-Dhanbad, other Centrally Funded Technical Institutions, Institutions funded by participating State Governments, and other institutions.

JEE Main exam 2020 is conducted in both online and offline mode. It is conducted in two main parts — Paper I and Paper II. Paper I (B. E/B. Tech) is conducted in both Computer-based (online) and Paper-pen based (offline) modes whereas Paper II (B. Arch/B. Planning) is conducted in Pen-paper mode only.

JEE Main 2020 Conducting Body:

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras (IIT Madras) will conduct joint Entrance Exam (JEE) Main 2020 this year. 

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria:

JEE Main eligibility criteria 2020 will give you the information required to take admission in India’s most prestigious engineering entrance examination.

The candidates must go through the eligibility criteria of JEE Main 2020 as outlined by the exam conducting body before filling the JEE Main 2020 Application Form.

Following is the criteria for JEE Main exam 2020:

  • Candidate born after October 1, 1992 (for general candidates) and October 1, 1987 (for SC/ST and PwD candidates).
  • The candidate should have passed 10+2 or equivalent exam in the year 2020 or 2020.
  • The students appearing for the 10+2 examination are also eligible to apply for JEE main exam.
  • The candidate should have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics
  • Applicant must have passed minimum five subjects in 10+2 or qualifying exam.
  • A candidate can apply for the exam only three times.
  • Diploma (3 years) holders can also apply.
  • Candidates appearing in the qualifying exam in the year 2020 can also apply.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form:

JEE Main application form 2020 was available from December 1, 2020, in online mode. The application form for JEE Main 2020 exam was filled and submitted on the official portal of JEE Main 2020 by January 2, 2020.

Candidates were required to upload the scanned copies of their photograph, signature and left thumb impression. The payment of the application fee for JEE Main 2020 can be made through debit card/credit card or e-challan only. No other mode of payment is available.

JEE Main 2020 Application Procedure:

Candidates can apply for JEE Main 2020 exam in online mode only. Applicants are required to fill up the requisite information, upload scanned the photograph, signature, and thumb impression while filling up the online form. After submitting the details, an acknowledgement page will be generated. Applicant must take a print-out of the page for further references.

According to the official website of JEE Main 2020, aspirants planning to take the exam should hold an Aadhaar Card issued by UIDAI. So JEE Main 2020 aspirants should ensure they have an Aadhaar Card before JEE Main 2020 application forms.

JEE Main 2020 Application Fee:

Candidates can pay the JEE Main application fee 2020 in online or offline mode. The application fee is non-refundable. The details of the fee are as under:

  • The paper will be of three hours duration
  • There will be only one correct response for each question out of four responses given
  • One-fourth marks will be deducted for every incorrect response of each question. However, no deduction will be made from the total score, if no response is indicated for a question.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Cards:

JEE Main admit card 2020 will be available to download from March 2020 in online mode only. Candidates can obtain their respective admit card for JEE Main 2020 from the official website of using their login ID and password.

JEE Main 2020 Results:

JEE Main result 2020 will be declared on April 27, 2020, tentatively. Candidates can check their results and can obtain their scorecard from the official website.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) will conduct JEE Main Counselling 2020. JEE Main Counselling procedure is as follows:
