IIT JAM 2020 Syllabus

IT JAM 2020 (Joint Admission Test for M.Sc.) is a national level exam conducted by the IITs and IISc concurrently.  IIT Bombay will be the conducting body of the exam of IIT JAM 2020. The Joint Admission Test (JAM) for Master of Science (M. Sc.) will be tentatively held in the month of February 2020. Candidates can check the registration process and procedure of application for JAM 2020 that includes, registering online, filling up the application form, remitting of fee along with the uploading of the documents and submission of the fully filled application form. Candidates will be able to register and apply for IIT JAM 2020 from September 2020. Interested candidates must register online before filling the application form for IIT-JAM 2020 exam.
The admit card of IIT JAM 2020 will be available from December 2020 onwards for the applicants who are seeking admission in the IITs and other reputed institutes. The IIT JAM 2020 hall ticket will contain the details of the candidate such as Candidate’s name, roll number, test venue, test date, the timing of the test etc. IIT JAM 2020 Amit card 2020 is one of the most important documents that should be carried by the candidate along with the photo identity card during the examination.

IIT JAM 2020 exam is conducted to grant admission to Integrated Ph.D degree programmes at IISc Bangalore and M.Sc (two years), Joint M.Sc and Ph.D, M.Sc-Ph.D dual degree, M.Sc- M.Tech, M.Sc-M.S (Research)/Ph. About JAM 2020 Exam

  • JAM 2020 is a computer based test conducted in online mode only.
  • The duration of the exam will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
  • IIT JAM 2020 exam carries 100 marks
  • There will be 60 questions in total
  • The exam is divided into three sections: Section A, B, and C.
  • No marks will be deducted for short answer and multiple selective-type questions whereas there will be negative marking for the multiple choice questions.
  • JAM2020 will be conducted for a total of seven test papers which are divided into 2 sessions.
  • The first session will be held for the following subjects: Mathematics, Biological Science, and Physics
  • The second session will be held for the following subjects: Mathematical Statistics, Geology, Biotechnology and Chemistry

  • Syllabus will be completely based on 10+2+3 level
  • The weightage of the test paper will be as follows: Biology (44% weightage), Mathematics (18%), Chemistry (20%) and Physics (18%)

  • Basics of Biochemistry, biophysics, molecular biology
  • General Biology
  • Microbiology, cell biology and immunology
  • Mathematical sciences

Chemistry (CY)

  • Physical Chemistry
  • Inorganic Chemistry

  • The weightage of the test paper will be as Mathematics (40%) and Statistics (60%)
